How do you set up the Marketo Salesforce integration?
A clean implementation starts in Salesforce, not in Marketo.

Step 3: Connect Marketo and review the fields

That is understandable. “Congratulations, the sync is enabled” is a much happier ending than “Now schedule quarterly governance meetings for the rest of your natural life.”

A Salesforce administrator adds a new field. The sync user can see it. Marketo adds it to the sync.
A Marketing Ops manager adds a new lifecycle-stage value. Salesforce still uses the old picklist.
Sales changes “Disqualified” to “Nurture.” Marketo smart campaigns continue filtering for “Disqualified.” The scoring model still runs. It just quietly runs against the wrong population.

A record can sync perfectly and still be wrong.
People change jobs. Companies grow, shrink, merge, relocate, rebrand, and adopt new technologies. Phone numbers stop working. Email addresses bounce. A person who entered your database as a manager may now be a vice president at a completely different account.

Track the health of the integration using more than “the connector says active.”
Monitor:
- Sync-cycle time
- Queue depth
- Failed writes
- Validation errors
- API consumption
- New duplicates
- Unexpected field changes

- Records held back by sync filters
